Jan-Jul Japan exports tick up 12%

According to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), in the January-July period, biliteral trade between Cambodia and Japan was valued at $1.138 billion, an increase of 16.18 percent year-on-year from $979.115 million, of which imports into the Kingdom totalled $469.601 million, up 23.1% from $381.401 million. Major items that Cambodia exports to Japan include garments, footwear, agricultural products, and general components, while important imports include automobiles, electronics, and various types of machinery. After China, South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam, Japan is the fifth-largest investor in Cambodia. It has been observed that Japanese investors in the Kingdom primarily work in the fields of industry, banking, hotels and tourism, construction, and real estate, in addition to other industries like retail and supermarkets, restaurants, and services.
