Recently in Preah Sihanouk province, a $300 million investment of tire factory has started its operation. The factory has the capacity to produce 900,000 truck tires annually and at least five million vehicle tires. Kuoch Chamroeun, the provincial governor, lauded the company’s investment for contributing to the expansion of the region’s economy by creating jobs for local people, increasing import and opening up a chance for investment in Cambodia. Moreover, since Cambodia is an agricultural nation that produces a lot of rubber, the governor Kuoch Chamroeun urged tire manufacturers to purchase local rubber for their supply chains, which would raise the price of rubber in Cambodia and help to increase farmers’ income.
