According to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Cambodia’s exports to Japan hit $1.09 billion in value in the first seven months of 2023 which shows an increase of 4.3 percent. The partnership between Cambodia and Japan has reached a comprehensive strategic partnership which is expected to bring in more Japanese investment and expand the market for Cambodian products. Japan is a top priority for commerce with Cambodia and recently talked on the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA). Establishing FTAs with major trading partners will help Cambodian products to enter a wider market, contribute to economic development, generate income, and provide jobs to locals, said Lim Heng, vice-president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.
