Japan ready to buy more Cambodian agri products

Ueno Atsushi, the ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, recommended to exporters in Cambodia to raise the quality of their products in order to meet Japan’s required standard. He demanded distinct negotiation support for the agricultural industry under the auspices of the Japanese agency ODA, separate from private investment initiatives. According to Atsushi, Cambodia's agricultural products are comparable to those of the ASEAN nations, but transportation or product trademarks are the problem. The Regional Comprehensive Partnership pact includes both Japan and Cambodia, and Japan is one of Cambodia's primary trading partners. Cambodia intends to engage in bilateral negotiations for a free trade agreement with Japan in order to increase Japanese investment and expand the market for Cambodian goods.
