From January to August, Cambodian exports of garments, footwear, and travel goods (GFT) showed a fall of 19.28 percent compared to the same period last year. According to the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) most recent trade data, Cambodia exported GFT goods worth $7.62 billion during the first eight months of 2023, a significant decrease from the $9 billion the country exported during the same period in 2022, primarily because of the global economy situation. The great source of export revenue for the nation, GFT goods, has remarkably decreased every month of this year, except for June, when they experienced a 1% growth.
