Ministry urges private sector to hire even more disabled people

The Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training is urging private sector businesses to increase the number of disabled workers to 3% of their workforce by 2024. The ministry will collaborate with pertinent organizations to persuade private businesses to employ at least 3% of individuals with disabilities. In order to help all disabled people find suitable employment and lead better lives, the ministry will also collaborate with businesses to make it simpler for disabled people to access training for other skills, like call center work. As of last month, 2,351 persons with severe disabilities and 869 disabled women made up the 3,776 persons with disabilities employed by 39 public government institutions in a variety of roles. This represents 2.05% of the total number of workers employed.
